GENERAL INFORMATION

As part of its study series ICMI has announced Study Number 16, Challenging Mathematics in and beyond the Classroom

An International Programme Committee, (IPC) has been appointed to administer the Study.

The IPC met in Modena, Italy from 28 November to 01 December 2003 to begin planning of the Study. At this meeting the IPC commenced the writing of a Discussion Document, which is the key planning document of the Study. This Discussion Document was published in August 2004.

The IPC finalised this document when it met, at ICME-10, in Copenhagen, and document is now available on this web site here.

Then followed a call for contributions to the Study Conference, which was held in Trondheim, Norway, from 28 June to 02 July 2006. The participants at this Conference were invited on the basis of papers which are now published on this site.

The final outcome of the Study is a Study Volume, which was published by Springer in December 2008.
